Education

After dropping out of high school and learning electronics in the Israel Defense Forces, Arazi earned an engineering degree in the 1960s at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[2][3]

Business career

Arazi began his career in the United States. He left it in June 1967, prompted by a feeling of urgency and pride, to return to Israel.[4]

Upon Arazi's return to Israel, in 1968 he founded and was the CEO and president of Scitex Corporation (renamed Scailex Corporation in 2005), an Israel-based multi-national company that specialized in developing and manufacturing hardware and software technologies and products, systems, and equipment for the graphics design, printing, and publishing markets.[4][5][6] It was the first Israeli high-tech firm, and at its peak employed 4,000 people.[7] Arazi stepped down as CEO and president of Scitex on June 1, 1988,[8] but continued to serve as chairman of the board of directors of the company (a position to which he had been appointed on May 1, 1985) until January 18, 1989, when Robert Maxwell's Mirror Group acquired a 27% stake in the company and Maxwell was appointed chairman.[9]

In 1988, Arazi founded Electronics for Imaging, which he nicknamed "Efi".[2][10] He later founded iMedia, a developer of tools for cable, satellite, and terrestrial television operators to manage compressed digital video.[6]

In 2005, Arazi was voted the 148th-greatest Israeli of all time, in a poll by the Israeli news website Ynet to determine whom the general public considered the 200 Greatest Israelis.[11]

In 2006, he sold two large apartments in Treetop Towers (Migdalei Tzameret), on Pinkas Street in Tel Aviv, for $12 million.[12]

Arazi is now chairman of Seerun Ltd.[6]
